Rome is Italy’s largest city and its historical, cultural, culinary and architectural each year attracts thousands of guests. Today, fortunately, you can find different Roma hostel, perfect for visiting the Eternal City even if we have a budget of just set.

If you are planning a trip to Rome and you must know what are the main monuments, how to get to downtown and where all the action, so we leave you with 10 interesting facts about the city:

1. The Baths of Caracalla, though not in very good condition at present, were very important at the time and occupied an area of more than 100.000m2. In its heyday, could accommodate 1600 bathers.

2. Rome has a museum dedicated to pasta. The Pasta Museum, unique in the world, exhibits various noodle machines, as well as works of art related to the pulp of some contemporary artists.

3. St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City is the largest church ever built. For its part, the city-state of Vatican City is the smallest sovereign state in the world.

4. Apparently, in ancient Rome there was some lack of women, so that Romulus abducted women of the tribe of the Sabines and starring an important episode in the history of the city, the Rape of the Sabines. Most women were treated as the most beautiful trophy and passed into the possession of the senators most important. (Perhaps here began this close relationship between the Italians and women …).

5. The Crypt of the Capuchins in Rome consists of five chapels and a corridor 60 feet long. It is decorated with more than 4,000 bones of monks of this order are supposedly beautiful works of art.

6. Rome was the largest city (more than one million inhabitants) in Europe until the nineteenth century, when London became the first position in the list of Europe’s most populated cities.

7. The first University of Rome, La Sapienza (founded in 1303) is the largest in Europe and the second largest in the world. It has 21 colleges, 21 museums, 155 libraries and over 130 departments and institutes.

8. The ancient Romans were very superstitious and were afraid of everything related to the left. That’s why they called sinister on the left, hence the origin of the word “sinister job.”

9. Are discarded every day around 3,000 € in the famous Fontana di Trevi. The coins are collected each night and the money is used as a supermarket for funds for people with few options and many needs.

10. Italy is probably the country ahead in terms of international fashion. Its roots date back to 300 B.C. when they appeared in Rome the first barbers.

DAY 1
From Rome airport we will travel to the Castelli Romani and the small town of Frascati which is known for its magnificent natural. The city is situated high and surrounded by forests, lakes and beautiful buildings. But it is also known for good food and, of course, excellent wines. We visit the place Nemi and has a tasting of the local wine producer.

Day 2
Early departure for Castel Gandolfo, which is one of the small towns in the Castelli Romani, with a view over Lake Albano southeast of Rome. Here live the pope during the summer months. We take a relaxing stroll around the lake. In the afternoon we visit the small vineyard in Frascati and taste their famous white wine is drunk by popes since time immemorial. Then we stop in Frascati for a glass of wine at a cozy restaurant.

Day 3
We will take us from the hills down to the Mediterranean. The day we spend with discovering the heart of Italy - Ciociaraormådet between Rome and Naples. We enjoy the local mozzarellan, wines and oils. The area is known for its beautiful nature with unique and rare flowers. Our first stop is at the Cantina Sociale di Frosinone for a wine tasting. The afternoon we spend in the village of Frosinone and enjoy mozzarella and olive oil testing.

Day 4
We take the boat to the volcanic Ponza and spend the day at this pearl of the Mediterranean. In the afternoon we go back to the hotel.

Day 5
We walk around in the park Parco Nazionale del Circeo, which started with the aim to protect the rare species of flowers and plants in the area. Early afternoon we go back to Rome airport.
